We built Nana Chat for the people who raised us.
Distance shouldn't mean disconnection. Nana Chat is the warmest, simplest way for an older parent or grandparent to see and hear the people they love.
Why Nana Chat exists
Most video apps were built for people who grew up with phones. For an 80-year-old, they're a maze of tiny buttons, logins, and pop-ups — and one confusing step is all it takes to give up and feel cut off.
We thought that was unfair. The people who taught us everything deserve technology that meets them with patience, not jargon. So we made something different: the family does the setup, and the loved one just sees big, friendly photos of the people they love. They tap a face. The call begins. That's the whole thing.
Nana Chat isn't assistive tech. It's a lifestyle product about love and presence — about a grandmother lighting up when she sees her grandchild, about a son two time zones away knowing his dad is okay. We obsess over making it feel like a warm hug, and over making it work on the very first try.
Hi, I'm Jorge
Founder of Nana Chat
I built Nana Chat because I watched someone I love slowly drift out of reach — not because they stopped caring, but because the technology asked too much of them. Every call became a small ordeal of logins and updates, until it was easier not to try. That never sat right with me.
So I set out to build the thing I wished existed: something an older parent or grandparent could use with zero learning, and something the rest of the family could set up in a minute from their own phone. No menus to get lost in. No passwords to forget. Just the faces of the people they love, one tap away.
I read every message that comes in, and I'd genuinely love to hear your story — who you're hoping to stay closer to, and what's gotten in the way. You can reach me any time at hello@nanachat.com.
